Comstock Apartment, 1961
Located on Nob Hill in San Francisco, the Comstock Apartment has been insensitively altered over the years since its dazzling 1961 inception. On its debut the apartment was intended to manifest the peak of luxury modernist living. The unit was rebuilt using some original parts, appointments, and hardware, salvaged from other units in the building. BoydDesign recreated the classic modernist urban design with white Carrera marble, dark wood tones, and cork floors. The corner unit provides the sensation of a mid-century modern box in the sky, with floor-to-ceiling windrows showcasing the entire downtown of San Francisco, from Sutro Tower to Coit Tower. |
