In 2008, the Orange County Museum of Art organized Birth of the Cool, an ambitious exhibition that traveled to other museums across the country. Named for the legendary 1950 album of jazz trumpeter Miles Davis, it chronicled the explosion of modern architecture, design and music in southern California in the 1950s. Michael curated the architecture and design portion of the exhibition drawing on his own collection and designed the installation and fixtures.
